Seasonal Boat Maintenance

Boating in Mid-Michigan puts real demands on your equipment. The spring thaw brings fluctuating temperatures and unpredictable weather, summer on Saginaw Bay means long hours on open water, and fall arrives fast. Our seasonal maintenance program is built around these local realities — not a generic checklist, but a thorough preparation process developed over nearly eight decades of serving Michigan boaters. Boats that receive consistent seasonal care simply last longer. Engines that are properly laid up for winter suffer less corrosion, less seal degradation, and fewer cold-start failures the following spring. Hulls that are inspected and cleaned at the end of each season are less prone to the kind of damage that compounds quietly over time. Seasonal maintenance isn't an expense — it's the most cost-effective investment you can make in your boat's longevity.

Common questions

Seasonal Maintenance FAQs

When should I schedule spring commissioning?

We recommend booking your spring commissioning as early as February or March — our schedule fills up quickly as the season approaches. Getting in early ensures your boat is ready the moment the water opens up.

What's the difference between seasonal and routine maintenance?

Routine maintenance focuses on regular upkeep like oil changes and tune-ups throughout the season. Seasonal maintenance is specifically tied to preparing your boat for launch in spring or protecting it for storage in fall.

Do I need seasonal maintenance if my boat is stored indoors?

Yes. Even with indoor storage, fuel degrades, batteries lose charge, and moisture can affect seals and electrical systems. Proper seasonal prep protects your boat regardless of where it's stored.

Do you service all outboard brands?

Yes. Our technicians are certified for Mercury®, Yamaha®, and Suzuki®.

How long does seasonal maintenance take?

Depending on the scope of work, seasonal maintenance typically takes one to three days. We'll give you a clear timeframe when you schedule your appointment.
